A grand piano restoration addresses structural, mechanical, and acoustic issues that cannot be corrected through tuning or routine service. Over time, wear and material fatigue affect how a piano responds, holds tuning, and produces tone. When those issues reach a certain point, adjustments alone are no longer effective.

Our piano restoration work focuses on correcting the underlying causes rather than masking symptoms. Each piano is evaluated individually, and work is planned around stability, function, and long-term reliability — not cosmetic appearance alone.

We restore all piano brands, a wide range of quality grand pianos, from American and European instruments to Japanese grands. Brand alone does not determine whether a piano is a good restoration candidate. Design, materials, condition, and intended use matter more than the name on the fallboard. Our approach is adapted to the construction and requirements of each instrument rather than forcing a one size process.

When Restoration Is the Right Decision

Restoration is appropriate when routine service no longer produces stable, predictable results. Over time, wear, compression, and material fatigue affect how a grand piano responds, holds tuning, and maintains regulation. When those issues reach a certain point, further adjustment becomes temporary.

In those cases, restoration allows the piano to be corrected at the structural and mechanical level rather than continually revisited through short-term fixes. The decision is not about sentiment or appearance alone, but whether the instrument can be made reliable, consistent, and musical for long-term use.

Not every piano is a good restoration candidate, and not every piano needs full rebuilding. An evaluation allows us to determine what level of work makes sense, what can wait, and what would not be effective to pursue.
